Serious hanging question!!!!!

I started hanging recently and had no problem getting upto 7.5lbs, when I go to 10lbs it hurts like the skin is ripping, not the ligaments so I went back. My questions are these:

  1. How much should I use, is 7.5lbs enough to produce results????
  2. Will the skin stretching ever get better, I want to feel it in my ligaments not the skin thats where the growth will come from right?

Re: Serious hanging question!!!!!

Hi WBB,

***I started hanging recently and had no problem getting up to 7.5lbs, when I go to 10lbs it hurts like the skin is ripping, not the ligaments so I went back.***

In my experience this has been a major limiting factor to conquer. Basically, I think there are 3 things that really help in overcoming this.

  1. Applying heat... plenty of it!
  2. Proper attachment of the hanger. If you are using the Bib, you must hold the wrapping while pulling the skin back towards the base before tighening down the clamp.
  3. Time... the skin will stretch. Believe me!

When I first started hanging in the seated position I had to substantially drop down in weight because of the extreme pain in the skin. I think I went from approx 15 lbs standing, down to 8lbs sitting. And that was just about bearable at the time.

I thought, Holy fuck, I will never be able to hang heavy and get a good lig stretch. It hurt like a mutha. But within a few weeks the skin stretched and the weight increased. That was back in August, and now I am well above 15 lbs again and all the feelings are in the ligs.

I am guessing I have very stong, resistant ligs, so I need to hang somewhat heavy to get the feel and results. Overcoming the skin problem was a major obstacle for me. But it happened and now it is very rare that I get any skin pain at all. If I do, it is usually because I need to adjust the hanger.

This week I measured a 1/4" increase in dead stretch. Last month 1/8". So I know hanging works. Give it time, it will come together for you. Hopefully you will have the so called "loose ligs".

Good Luck

Re: Serious hanging question!!!!!

That was a good question and a great response.

I have noticed a similar thing in my ever-changing routine. I have recently switched from the swimcap hanger to the modified bib and found that the skin is a serious limiting factor, but one that can be over come in time. I had hung 7-8 pounds with the swimcap, but had to drop initially to 5 with the mod Bib (and I'm still there, I just started this week..) and this only after a good hot wrap and pulling back the skin in a similar manner as described by HnS.

Here is my dumb, uneducated question:

Where on the penis is the best place to attach the hanger? I find that it stays on better if the point of attachment (ie where the clamp is tightened) is maybe within 1 or 2 cm of the glans.

Thanx,

Size

Size,
Well, I find that if you attach the hanger (clamp) approx 1 inch - 2.5 cm's works best for me

I'm sure even Bib recomended it to be attached about 1" from the head .. Can anyone else confirm this ??

Re: Serious hanging question!!!!!

The skin stretch can be very painful and limiting, I agree. I guess there are two ways to deal with it. Go slow and evetually the skin should stretch or what I have been trying lately. When putting on the bib for one of my hanging reps, I actually pull the skin forward towards the glans so it is stretched pretty tight prior to even hanging weight. I use a lower weight for this rep. This way I have a very intense skin stretch for the first few minutes of that rep. I have found that this seems to really speed up the skin stretching process. My next rep. is done with the bib placed normally again, and I don't really notice the skin stretching at that point, mostly the ligs. Just thought I would share

thanks

Thanks guys!!! So you think 7.5lbs will give me some length gains, or do I have to work up to heavier weights? I did notice that the more sessions I do the less pain I get from the skin stretch so it must be starting to accomadate the pull.

Serious hanging question

Ditto HnS...The skin definitely has its moments of pain but I have noticed that if you (I) will continually adjust the material under the bib as you tighten it you will be able to hang more weight and for longer time durations. I too was hanging 15lbs. while standing and getting a great stretch in the ol' ligs but have had to drop down to 5lbs. while sitting. I like to place the bib as close to the pube bone as possible for a solid stretch. I really feel it when I'm having sex as I'm sure everybody else does too.

I feel the same way, lol, now that I pulled the skin back most if not all the pain is gone. No body answered my question though if 7.5lbs will be enough weight in the sitting position to hang with and get length gains?

Tryed this yet???

Hanging in a reclined position?? You can go through Bib's older posts in the personal routine area and find this mentioned and that he made most of his gains hanging reclined. If you're hanging standing only with 7.5lbs......try hanging reclined before you up the weight. This will hit your ligs from a totally different angle and you will have to probably back off the weight to 5lbs. I'd suggest reclined with the 5lbs then try to work back up to 7.5 I assure you it will take a while maybe a couple weeks to get back up their , then..move up in weight past 7.5. Of course as before proceed slowly.

Re: Serious hanging question!!!!!

7.5 lbs. should be sufficient for good length gains. But it begs a different question: "How much time do you hang?"

Some cultures achieve impressive gains by wearing a stone around their member that's only 2 lbs. But they wear it 24/7. It seems the less time you have to hang, the more weight is required to create the controlled tissue damage that stimulated cell growth. For the average guy who has only an hour or two a day to hang, it makes sense to make the most effective use of that time.

This is where being conscious of your body's signals during PE comes in. In order to optimize your hang time, you want to pay close attention to what you're experiencing, and walk that fine line that achieves a good stretch, but falls short of pain. Hopefully, you've taken care of the skin pain problem, and can now focus on maximizing the stretch of ligaments and penile tissue.

When you no longer feel a good stretch using your current weight is when you want to move up a little, say 2 or 3 lbs. I know guys up to 15, and even 20 lbs. Again, your body is telling you what is appropriate.

I tried hanging while sitting. And while more effective that not hanging at all, I didn't find it as effective as standing and walking. For two reasons:

  1. While standing and moving about, the slight "bouncing" of weight helps opens up tissue that promotes cell growth.
  2. Standing SEEMS to provide a more powerful and uniform stretch on the ligs--but I'm not sure on that one. (This might be a good question to ask SunshineKid: does standing indeed provide a better stretch than sitting?).

standing vs. sitting

The issue of whether standing or sitting when hanging weights has been debated several times before. Like many things on the board, I don't think there is a definitive answer for all people. What works for me is hanging while sitting, and at the end of the routine walk around, or stand with a leg elevated to get a good stretch on the sides.

Re: standing vs. sitting

Moby,

I have to agree with Size on this one. I hung for 4 months standing with no real results. It wasn't til I started hanging while seated that my gains came.

If you understand how the ligs are attached, you will see that to maximize the stretch you have to get the weights as close to or beyond the butt crack. You just can't do that standing unless you attach the hanger to a longer chord and hang over your shoulder. This is not to say that standing will not get some hangers' gains. We are all unique and each will respond to external stimuli differently.

This is an advanced technique but it really works well. I know Bib does this. While seated with your legs stretched out in front of you on another chair, curl your head towards your pelvis and at the same time lift your hips as if doing an ab curl. You will really feel a good stretch/pull right at your pubic bone where the ligs attach. It almost feels like the ligs wanna tear right out, which is why only those who have built up sufficient strength down there should attempt it.

WannaB,

Your results with 7.5 lbs will depend on the inherent strength of your ligs and three factors...load, duration and frequency.

Re: standing vs. sitting

The logic for sitting while hanging seems to make sense. I wasn't aware of the need to position weights in relation to the butt crack.

I think part of my problem when I started PE, was trying too many techniques over a short period of time, and not knowing where some gains were truly coming from. I think it's relatively easy to make gains initially--the hard part is sustaining those gains over time. And this is where we have to be creative.

Although I've acheived some good gains for the first three months, I've acheived nada in the last 2 weeks. I guess it's time to shake the tree, so to speak. I'm going to try some new stretch positions and hanging exercizes mentioned here. I also like the idea of that reclining stretch.

Thanks, Moby

well

I thought my post was clear but I am hanging with 7.5lbs sitting!!!!!! I usually do 30 minutes at a time, twice a day for an hour daily. When I can do more I do so, but thats all I seem to fit in most days. I've only been hanging for about 2 weeks now, I tried to go upto 10lbs but it hurt the skin too much. I feel the ligs can take it, so now that I know to attach after pulling the skin back maybe I can get away with moving up in weight. In addition to the hour hanging, through out the day I do manual stretching whenever I can for a few minutes, usually after hitting the bathroom and when I'm in the shower. I also do 30 minutes of Jelqing on workout days. As I said earlier I workout Mon, Tues, Thurs and Friday. On the "Off" days I do some light manual stretching and some light jelqing to keep things moving ahead.

Serious Hanging question

Moby,

Thanks so much for thinking of me with the question. I will however, defer to those gentlemen who hang. This is an area that I am not totally familiar with, and until I learn more about it, I would perfer that the gents who do it answer.

In a manual stretch, it doesn't matter the position you are in. With weights, I honestly don't have a clue.
